The house is conveniently located for an active holiday on La Palma, should you wish. The National Park is right on the doorstep - perfect for walkers.
The house is conveniently located to access all the beaches the island has to offer. The nearest beach and also a major tourist area is Puerto de Tazacorte (15 minutes by car), however our favourite is Playa Veta on the east of the island (25 mins by car). The beaches on La Palma are uncrowded, unspoilt and the sea is crystal clear as you'd expect. Here you can relax under the warm sun, take a dip in the sea and sample the local seafood restaurants.

Sport, Activities and Attractions

WALKING
La Palma is a well-known paradise for walkers and ramblers. La Palma is the steepest island in the world and has breathtaking scenery. The network of hiking paths on the island stretches to almost 1000km. Asurita is located not far from the new El Paso Visitors Centre, on the edge of the La Caldera National Park where many walks begin. La Palma is proud of its walking paths and most are well maintained and properly marked with international standard markings and signposts.
Using the European Ramblers Association code, there are three easy-to-understand signs depending on the type of hiking trail -

1. Local hiking trails (SL) are less than 10km long - green and white stripes.

2. Short-distance (PR) hiking trails are 10km to 50km long - yellow and white stripes.

3. Long-distance (GR) hiking trails are over 50km long - red and white stripes.

BEACHES
The house is conveniently located to access all the beaches the island has to offer. The nearest beach and also a major tourist area is Puerto de Tazacorte (15 minutes by car), however our favourite is Playa Nogales on the east of the island (25 mins by car). The beaches on La Palma are uncrowded, unspoilt and the sea is crystal clear as you'd expect. Here you can relax under the warm sun, take a dip in the sea and sample the local seafood restaurants.

BIRD WATCHING
La Palma offers many opportunities for bird watching. There are in fact two rare birds which can only be seen on La Palma: white-tailed laurel pigeon (Columba junoniae) and dark-tailed laurel pigeon (Columba bollii). There are at least 80 recorded bird species in La Palma, including the chough, kestrel, La Palma blue tit, La Palma chaffinch and the Canary long-eared bat.

HORSE RIDING
One of the best ways to tour the island is by horseback. You'll see some spectacular scenery and villages along the way. There are several horse riding companies in La Palma with two neaby in El Paso that can organise rides through the Caldera de Taburiente, the National Park. SCUBA DIVING
Volcanic eruptions on La Palma have created many rare and fascinating underwater rock arches, towers and caves. There are many dive centres on the island who offer scuba dive experiences whether you are a complete beginner or experienced. Please contact us if you require further details.
