Fortunately that’s no problem anymore! The modern odontology is orientated more and more towards the requirements of the patient. Thus, as well esthetic aspects are increasingly considered. New technologies allow furthermore a tooth-colored and not viewable prosthesis. By now, tooth-colored dental reconstruction is possible due to a new kind of technologie of adamantine and dental bonding of the anterior teeth as well as of the grinders. Ceramic prosthesis in an innovative jacket technique is as well esthetically superior to all the other conventional prosthesis techniques.

Implants

A great advantage of implants is that no bone shrinking occurs at the respective jaw sections. In the toothless section the jaw bone is reduced without the introduction of implants.

How many implants are necessary?
For the centering of an removable prosthesis few implants suffice. If the front teeth lack, for esthetical reasons more implants are necessary, just as there are for the anchoring of bridges or implants in the upper jaw. Finally, individual conditions of the patient are decisive. Thus, for example the volume and the stability of the jaw-bone, in which the implant has to be introduced.

For the orientation of the patient:
If the anchoring of a removable prosthesis in a toothless lower jaw is necessary, at least two implants are needed – but the standard is three or four implants. For a removable prosthesis in the upper jaw, four implants are needed. For a tight prosthesis in a toothless lower jaw, five or six implants are necessary, and eight in the upper jaw.

Planning and diagnostics determine the success.
The success of an implantation depends decisively on the planning and the diagnostics that are essential therefor. Normally, the so-called orthopantomographs, a panoramic radiogram of the whole jaw, will suffice. If a clear diagnosis is not possible, an examination with the computer tomograph may be necessary.

Experts say that general CT-Diagnostics are not necessary. Indeed it is possible to determine the mineral density of the bone with it, but it does not reveal its mechanical stability.
