Sport, Activities and Attractions | "De Lijsterhof” is situated in the center of beautiful Domburg. When you walk out of the house, you stand immediately in Domburgs main street with many shops and restaurants. A five minute walk brings you on the beach.
Domburg is be known for its many different faces and possibilities for your holiday. The beach of Domburg is summer and winter an experience. Always only a hundred meters of each other you find a number of pavilions on the beach. You can eat here a snack, small dinner or have a drink. Special on the evening the beach is the place to be, with a glass of wine enjoying the fabulous sunset
In the many small restaurants you can enjoy the Zeeuwse specialities. Everyone knows the mussels , but there is so much more. For example, Zeeuwse oysters, experts priced them as ' very fine of taste '. And the small ' kruûkels ', which are delicious as amuse. Furthermore there is the Bolus for the “sugarlover”. Gentle blank dough twisted, wrapped with crispy, brown burnd caramel topping. Each baker bakes them, just like those absolutely delicious “roomboterbabbelaars”.
Domburg is bounded by the Manteling, an unique Forrest characterised by stately outside places with big fabulous gardens. It is one of the few the oak groves to sea, it was ever planted to protect Walcheren against wind and the sea. The trees have very typical forms which is a result of growing in the sea wind, which comes always from one direction. You find trees designd as you have never seen before. The Walcherse coast is characterised by its broad sand beaches with very high dunes. The dunes are highest of the Netherlands.
for the dunes is the enormous natural mixture. This landscape is so rich varied, that dozens of species of wild fauna and flora can exist together. On the beach new dunes arise under influence of the wind and rainAlong the range arise new duintjes, which becomes under the influence of wind, rain. Actually these “Young” Dunes are walking along the older dunes and the beach. That’s why they’re called “Walking Dunes”
The beach of Domburg offers you rest and space to relax if you want too. For those who can’t lay down and enjoy, there are many activity’s on the beach. When the sun isn’t warm enough you can always take a long walk over the beach and trough the dune-forrest. When you’re thirsty from the sun or hungry from a walk on the beach you find several beach- pavilions where you can eat and drink. And for the sportsman or active recreant there is the choice, the water ski, the surfboard, the or the sea kayak.
The beaches of Walcheren belong to the most clean beaches of Europe. The rescue brigade pays always attention to make your day at the beach a safe and pleasant day. Therefore I think you should spend a vacation in beautiful Domburg and spend the night in the stylish “Lijsterhof” |
