Puerto Varas is also the starting point for South America's most traditional excursion; the magnificent bus-boat combination to San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina,  for excursions to Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and to Alerce Andino National Park and for one of southern Chile's most challenging climbs, Volcán Osorno.
