Location and surroundings: | Situated on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Cape Peninsula, Pringle Bay is a unique and charming small coastal village nestled at the foot of the legendary Hangklip Mountain. This exotic stretch of coastline is situated in a World Biosphere Reserve. (UNESCO) The Reserve area has been extended in March 2006- and now virtually encircles Pringle Bay. The whole area teems with wildlife and exquisite flora and is a key part of the Sixth Floral Kingdom of the planet. It is famous for its indigenous fynbos flora and houses more plant species per square metre than anywhere else on the planet.
Pringle Bay is ideally suited to those who prefer outdoor living. Whale watching (during the whale season from June to December), walking, hiking, swimming, surfing and cycling are the sort of activities that can be enjoyed here. There is a lovely silver sandy beach, the walks, hikes, picnic spots and cycle routes in the Harold Porter Gardens and Kogelberg Reserve are spectacular. The Palmiet River is also a favourite for swimming or canoeing. Known also for its abundant sea life, this is where you can enjoy the fruits of the sea at your whim. The air is clean and unpolluted and the beaches pristine and sparkling. Pringle Bay is centrally located with Cape Town, Cape Town International Airport, Hermanus and the Cape Winelands all around a 60-90 minutes drive away. The Arabella and Kleinmond Golf Courses are less than 25 minutes drive away. Pringle Bay, nestled between mountain and ocean, is definitely a worthwhile holiday destination. The region can be approached from the Cape Peninsula by a coastal road carved from the sea cliffs from Gordon's Bay, through the Kogelberg Biosphere - the only one in South Africa.
